You are invited to join a celebration of the paperback release of John Lee Clark’s latest book, “Touch the Future: A Manifesto in Essays.”

In keeping with the radical nature of Protactile and the ideas found in his book, Clark is offering an unusual book event. He will share various objects relevant to his book for everyone to touch, stories about each object, and enlist volunteers from the audience to receive Protactile poetry and to give him prompts to improvise from.

Join us for this milestone in Protactile practice! A book signing and reception will follow.

John Lee Clark
Born Deaf into a sign language-speaking family and blind by adolescence, Clark learned to embrace the possibilities of his tactile world. He is on the frontlines of the Protactile movement, which gave birth to an unprecedented language and way of life based on physical connection.

Schedule of the evening – October 22nd:
· 5:30pm → Door opens
· 6pm → Reading
· 7 to 8pm → Book signing and reception

Accessibility:
· Interpreters: LSQ and ASL interpreters on-site throughout the evening — Jordan Goldman, Angel Dalsy-Fine, Brooke Nancekivell, Hodan Youssouf.
· Accessible areas: The MAI café-bar is located on the first floor and is wheelchair accessible. Washrooms are gender-neutral. MAI is located at 3680 Jeanne Mance street, Montreal.
