{"id":14805,"date":"2023-08-08T15:51:09","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T19:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/m-a-i.qc.ca\/?post_type=event&#038;p=14805"},"modified":"2023-09-06T16:01:30","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T20:01:30","slug":"driving-in-palestine","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/m-a-i.qc.ca\/en\/event\/driving-in-palestine\/","title":{"rendered":"driving in palestine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Palestinian-born and Montreal-based interdisciplinary artist <span style=\"color: #fa5c4f;\"><strong>Rehab Nazzal<\/strong><\/span> employs a variety of media to examine the devastating effects of settler-colonial violence on the Palestinian people, land and non-human life. <span style=\"color: #fa5c4f;\"><strong>Driving in Palestine<\/strong><\/span> is a multimedia installation that combines photography, video, printed matter, and sound to offer glimpses of Israel\u2019s structures of segregation, confinement, surveillance and restriction to freedom of movement that proliferate the occupied West Bank. Captured from moving vehicles on Palestinian roads spanning 2010 to 2020, a decade of images compels viewers to question the link between suppression and debilitation of Indigenous people and the attempts to expropriate and destroy their land. Nazzal\u2019s work reveals a regime that suffocates, surveils and controls the Palestinian&#8217;s mobility within and beyond their territories.
