{"id":15923,"date":"2024-02-22T12:48:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T17:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/m-a-i.qc.ca\/?post_type=artist&#038;p=15923"},"modified":"2025-02-24T13:35:32","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T18:35:32","slug":"mara-dupas","status":"publish","type":"artist","link":"https:\/\/m-a-i.qc.ca\/en\/artist\/mara-dupas\/","title":{"rendered":"mara dupas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Mara Dupas is the recipient of the CAM+MAI Joint Support Fellowship 2023-2024.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mara Dupas is a queer multidisciplinary artist of Martinican descent. He relocated to Montreal with his family at a young age, where he took up dance training. Mara perfected his classical ballet and contemporary dance techniques, first at the Acad\u00e9mie du Ballet M\u00e9tropolitain, then at the \u00c9cole de danse contemporaine de Montr\u00e9al (2019-2022). Concurrently, he began learning urban dancing and Haitian folk dances by following workshops. Mara collaborates as a performer with Louise B\u00e9dard (choreographic research), Charlie Prince (s<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tates of body produced by an emergency<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) as well as Rhodnie D\u00e9sir (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symphonie de coeurs<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His choreographic works, which explore the themes of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">m\u00e9tissage<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Afro-descendant body and Caribbean culture, have been presented in Montreal at Danses Buissonni\u00e8res (Tangente Danse), the Vue sur la Rel\u00e8ve Festival and the OFFTA.
