For this final event, participants of afro-descendance are invited to participate in a beginner djembé workshop led by Yawo Matey. No prior experience is required.

Yawo Matey, a percussionist of Togolese origin, embodies rich cultural diversity through his lively and captivating music. Having lived in various African countries, he has blended traditional percussion rhythms to create a unique and captivating style. His artistic journey has been marked by varied and enriching experiences that have shaped his talent and passion for music.
As a versatile musician, Yawo Matey has explored various musical horizons as a percussionist, tuba player, and trombonist in musical groups in Africa, accompanying renowned artists on tour across the continent. His musical journey eventually led him to Quebec in 2005, where he joined musical ensembles such as Nomadic Massive and Alpha Thiam, which showcase contemporary African music.
